Samos – the green gem of the Aegean Sea – is known for its charming villages, hospitable locals and surprisingly varied coastline. From lively beach clubs to hidden coves surrounded by pine forests, this Greek island has something to offer every beach lover. In this blog, I will take you on a tour of the eight most beautiful beaches on Samos, each with its own character and charm.

Whether you want to relax in style at Asterias Seaside Experience near Pythagorion, explore the soft sandy beaches of Psilli Amos, or are looking for a quiet spot like the idyllic Small Lemonakia Beach, Samos will not disappoint. Other highlights such as Kokkari, the impressive Potami Beach, the Navagos Beach Bar, the picturesque Mourtia Beach and the long Mykali Beach should also be on your list.

Read on and discover which beach on Samos best suits your ideal holiday!

Kokkari

Kokkari is one of the most famous villages on Samos and is located right on the beach. Loved by many, I personally find it a little too touristy and crowded, but it is definitely worth seeing at least once. There are several restaurants, both along the harbour and along the beach, and you can also hire sunbeds. And if you feel like buying some trinkets, this is also the place to be.

Small Lemonakia Beach

Small Lemonakia Beach is a delightful and relaxed beach that also belongs to Kokkari. You can park your car in the village and then walk a short distance uphill to Basilico, a small restaurant with a beautiful view of the tiny island in front of the beach. A staircase leads down to the beach, where you can also hire sun loungers. It is a beautiful spot and perfect for taking lovely photographs.

Psilli Amos

One of my favourite beaches on Samos is Psilli Amos. It's a lovely beach with fine sand and a number of nice restaurants. The water is very shallow, so you can walk far out into the sea and look out towards Turkey – in fact, you can almost touch it. This makes it a great beach for children too. We always go to Noya Beach Bar, a relaxed place where lots of families go and which is also very affordable.

Asterias Seaside Experience

Asterias Seaside Experience is one of the most atmospheric spots on the coast of Samos, right on the waterfront in Pythagorio. It combines the fun of a beach bar with the quality of a restaurant — all in an elegant, relaxed setting that is perfect for a day of sun, sea and good food.

Here you can start your day with comfortable sun loungers right on the pebble beach, refreshing cocktails in hand and your feet in the crystal-clear water. During the day, there is a relaxed boho-chic atmosphere, while in the evening the place can become livelier with lounge music or a DJ set in the background.

Potami Beach

If you are going on a day trip around the island, don't miss Potami Beach. This heart-shaped beach is located near Karlovassi. From above (at a small church along the road), you have a beautiful view. There are also one or two restaurants here. Personally, I didn't enjoy lying here, but it was definitely nice to see this beautiful beach.

Mourtia Beach

Mourtia Beach is also definitely worth a visit. Located in eastern Samos, not far from Vathy, Mourtia Beach is one of those hidden gems that makes you feel like you're really on holiday. The beach is situated in a quiet bay, surrounded by green hills covered with olive trees, pine trees and even a few palm trees, giving the area an almost tropical feel.

Instead of a crowded tourist beach, Mourtia is a place where nature lovers and those seeking peace and quiet come together. The coast is covered with pebbles and small stones, and the water is clear, calm and ideal for swimming or snorkelling. Thanks to its sheltered location, there is often little wind and a beautiful view of the bay, with small fishing boats sometimes bobbing close to the shore – a picturesque scene that you will not soon forget.

Please note that the beach is largely unspoilt: there are few facilities, so bring your own food and drink.

Mykali Beach

If you drive from Pythagorion to Psilli Amos, you will pass Mykali Beach along the way. It is a long, quiet pebble beach with a view of Turkey. You can rent sunbeds there, and there are a number of simple restaurants. If you like peace and quiet or are perhaps staying in one of the hotels near this beach, then this is a great little beach. The view is beautiful in any case.

Navagos Beach Bar

If you want to combine a day at the beach with a cosy atmosphere and delicious drinks, then Navagos Beach Bar on beautiful Tsamadou Beach is a place you shouldn't miss. Located in a picturesque bay near Kokkari, this beach bar invites you to relax under the Greek sun with views of the crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea.

Navagos has a relaxed, summery vibe — think comfortable sunbeds, refreshing cocktails, cold beers and tasty snacks right on the beach. In addition to drinks, the menu also offers simple lunch dishes and Mediterranean bites, ideal for enjoying between swims. Visitors can sunbathe on the pebble beach or choose a spot in the shade under the parasols while taking in the relaxing music and sea views.

Casa Cook Beachhouse

Bonus beach – the private beach of Casa Cook Samos. If you stay at the hotel, as we did, you can enjoy this lovely private beach at Potokaki. If you don't feel like going out, you can enjoy luxurious sun loungers, a parasol and background music at your hotel. What more could you want?
