Boats in the beautiful bay of Mourtia Beach on Samos
Boats in the beautiful bay of Mourtia Beach on Samos

Sun, sea and bliss – that's exactly what we found during our trip to Samos! We stayed at Casa Cook Samos and had a wonderful time. In this blog, I'll tell you all about our stay and why this hotel comes highly recommended.

Hotels on Samos

Do you love ultimate relaxation, luxury and comfort? Then I can wholeheartedly recommend Casa Cook Samos. Casa Cook is located directly behind the airport (and no, it really doesn't bother you) and it's right on the beach. The rooms are fantastic! Everything is decorated in wabi sabi style and the entire complex exudes tranquillity. In the morning, there is an extensive breakfast buffet and you can have breakfast on the beach. The beach beds are very comfortable, but you can also chill out by one of the swimming pools. It makes me incredibly happy!

In addition, the Doryssa group has a number of nice hotels in and around Pythagorion, all of which look great. If you like small boutique hotels, then the Doryssa Theorem Hotel or Doryssa Method Hotel in Pythagorian are great options. Or do you prefer a boho atmosphere? Then the Doryssa Boutique Hotel is very nice. Would you rather be right on the beach? Then you can also stay at the Doryssa Seaside Resort or the Doryssa Coast Apartments.

Beaches on Samos

There are several beaches on Samos. Most of them are pebble beaches, so water shoes are useful. The beach at Casa Cook (for hotel guests only) is great if you are staying there. The beach has luxury sunbeds, which guests can use free of charge.

Asterias Seaside Experience near Pythagorion

Within walking distance of Casa Cook, near the village of Pythagorion, you will find Asterias Seaside Experience. This is a very nice beach club with fantastic beds, beautiful clear blue water and excellent food. It is a wonderful place to spend the day. And if you go in the early or late season, it is also wonderfully quiet here. You can also enjoy a delicious meal here in the evening.

Noya Beach Club on Psili Ammos

Psili Ammos is about a 25-minute drive from Pythagorion (note that there is another beach on Samos with the same name). Psili Ammos is one of the few sandy beaches on Samos and from here you can almost touch Turkey. Our favourite beach club here is Noya Beach Experience. Here you can rent luxury sunbeds for only 4 euros each and enjoy a simple lunch. You can also rent other sunbeds on this beach, and there are several other small eateries.

Mykali Beach

On the road to Noya Beach Club on Psili Ammos, you will also see a turn-off to Mykali Beach. It is only a short drive away, so it is worth stopping by. Mykali Beach is a long pebble beach. There are sunbeds in various places and I saw some eateries. From here, you also have a beautiful view of Turkey. The beach is not really developed yet, which I personally find a shame, because it could be turned into something really nice.

Navago Beach Bar on Tsamadou Beach

If you are touring the island, it is also nice to stop by Navago Beachbar. This beach club not only has sunbeds on the beach, but you can also lie on different levels and even by the pool. There is also a large bar where you can enjoy food and drinks. And if you walk all the way to the top, you have a beautiful view of the lovely bay.

Mourtia Beach

Mourtias Beach is a very nice little bay that is mainly frequented by locals. There are lots of boats and a food truck where you can get something to eat and drink. It's great fun to visit and, if you want, you can also lie down and relax here. There are no sunbeds on this beach, but there are seats here and there where you can sit down.

Kokkari

The well-known village of Kokkari is also located directly on the beach, where you can rent sunbeds and enjoy good food and drinks at various beach bars. We enjoyed visiting Kokkari, but didn't feel like lying on the beach there. However, we recommend taking a look and who knows, you might love it and enjoy a nice day at the seaside.

Votsalakia

The wide beach of Votsalakia also has several restaurants and beach clubs. We stopped by briefly last year and had coffee at Lagoon Seaside Experience, but unfortunately we couldn't lie down there, so I can't give you any advice about it. It looked nice and it was a sandy beach. But it's always fun to go exploring on your own.

Restaurants on Samos

On Samos, you’ll find plenty of great restaurants, ranging from trendy hotspots to authentic Greek tavernas. Since we stayed in Pythagorion, we only had dinner there in the evenings. These were our favorites:

Pergamonto

In our opinion, the best restaurant on Samos is Pergamonto! This lovely spot is located on a small square just behind the harbor of Pythagorion and has a slightly French vibe. Not only is the place itself amazing, but the food is absolutely finger-licking good. You’ll find the most delicious salads combined with fresh fish and meat dishes — honestly, everything is good here. The concept is also great: shared dining, so you can enjoy and share everything together. A must-visit when you’re on Samos. And since it’s always busy, don’t forget to make a reservation via Instagram.

Asterias Seaside Experience

At Asterias Seaside Experience, you can also enjoy a cozy and delicious dinner right on the beach in the evening. The menu is Mediterranean, featuring everything from pizzas and pasta to meat and fish dishes. And don’t forget to try the tiramisu here. 😉

Unan

Sushi lovers, take note! At Unan, you’ll find the freshest and most delicious sushi on the island. The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming, and the place itself is great too, with a cozy bar area.

Antigoni’s

At Antigoni’s Deli Concept, you can create your own grazing board. Antigoni’s is essentially a delicatessen shop, but you can also put together a delicious platter with the finest thinly sliced cured meats, cheeses, fruit, nuts, and, of course, choose a lovely bottle of wine to go with it. Outside, you’ll find cute little tables along the building where you can sit and enjoy. A really fun thing to do.

Sama Samos

This restaurant only opened in July 2024. It’s located at the harbor in Pythagorion and definitely stands out, as it’s completely white. A lovely spot where we also enjoyed a great meal — think pasta dishes, fish, and meat. A fun place with lots happening around you, as the harbor is always lively.

Two Spoons

For coffee, head to Two Spoons. You’ll find this cozy little spot on the left at the end of the harbor in Pythagorion. Take a seat on the terrace under the trees and enjoy a cup of coffee with the most delicious homemade cakes.

Storia Dolce

Crazy about Italian gelato? Then be sure to stop by Storia Dolce as well. They have two locations: one on the main street of Pythagorion and another on a corner near the harbor. I often picked up a little dessert here after dinner. 🙂

Of course, there are many more lovely spots on the island, but these are the ones we visited. Such a great island! And you can easily combine Samos with other Greek islands. I hope you find my tips helpful.
