Imagine waking up to the gentle sound of the sea, opening the curtains of your minimalist hotel room and seeing the sun rise over a serene stretch of beach. No crowds, no mass tourism – just tranquillity, style and the Aegean Sea. Welcome to Oku Kos, an adults-only boutique resort on the west coast of the Greek island of Kos, where boho vibes and modern luxury come together.
A hidden gem on Marmari beach
Marmari is known for its vast sandy beaches, turquoise waters and relaxed atmosphere. This is precisely where Oku Kos is located, tucked away between the dunes on a quiet stretch of beach. The resort seems to blend into the landscape – understated, earthy and completely in harmony with its surroundings. Oku (which means “inner” in Japanese) lives up to its name. Everything here revolves around inner peace, natural beauty and a relaxed lifestyle. From the architecture to the food – every experience has been carefully designed.
Design that breathes
Oku Kos' style is a refined blend of wabi-sabi and Mediterranean simplicity. Think earth tones, wooden furniture, hand-woven textiles and open spaces with lots of light. Each room, suite or villa has its own terrace and some even have a private swimming pool.
Slow living at its best
At Oku, it's all about slow living: savouring the moment. Start your day with yoga on the wooden deck by the beach. Then walk barefoot to the beach, or curl up with a book under a straw parasol on the most fantastic beach beds ever.
Fancy something more active? Grab a SUP board, cycle through the nearby salt flats and dunes of Marmari, or go horse riding at sunset. In the evening, take a seat in the restaurant where local ingredients are transformed into modern Greek dishes, while you enjoy the most beautiful sunsets.
More than just a stay – an experience
Oku Kos is a place where you slow down, where you are in no hurry to do anything – you can truly relax here. We came here for the first time in 2019 and returned again for our 25th wedding anniversary because it is such a wonderful place. Highly recommended if you want to get away from it all.
